The 2026 LA Marathon was about far more than miles run or dollars raised. It was a powerful reminder of what happens when community, purpose, and perseverance come together.

This year, the California Rehabilitation Foundation was honored to serve in two meaningful roles: as the Title Sponsor of the Para-Athlete Event and as an official nonprofit charity partner of the LA Marathon. Each role reflects our deep commitment to expanding access, opportunity, and visibility for individuals with physical disabilities.

And the impact continues to grow.

Our team of runners tripled in size, expanding from 5 participants last year to 15 this year. We also welcomed an even larger group of para-athletes, including an inspiring delegation from Achilles International, who brought nearly 30 athletes from New York City and Ohio to participate.

A special thank you to Laura and Jairo Rivera, whose leadership and dedication helped make this experience possible for so many athletes.

This incredible weekend would not have been possible without the support of our partners and community. We are deeply grateful to California Rehabilitation Institute, The McCourt Foundation, Artists For Trauma, California State University, Northridge – College of Health & Human Development, LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games, Superior Mobility, and Runnershiii, a growing collaboration fueled by passionate runners and volunteers.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to California Rehabilitation Foundation Board Members Heather Vucetin and family and Glenn Irani, M.D. for their continued support and participation.

At the heart of it all is something even more meaningful than the race itself: community and connection.

That is what makes this event so special. It is what continues to bring people together year after year, all united by a shared vision to create a world-class experience for para-athletes.

And we are just getting started. We look forward to building something even bigger together next year.

During the process of recovery, one of the most important things we can do is show others they are not alone. Each day, we are inspired by the stories of individuals who demonstrate strength and resilience during life’s most difficult challenges. By partnering with the Cal Rehab Foundation, you can bring the gifts of hope, healing and independence to people with physical disabilities.
