About Us

With nearly 25 years of experience, Geoffrey is a results-driven leader who has held senior management positions in diverse settings from large academic health care organizations to community hospitals. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer at Cleveland Clinic Rehabilitation Hospital, Edwin Shaw, a 60 bed inpatient rehabilitation facility and sub-acute unit in Copley OH.

Before that, Geoffrey was Administrator for eight years at Rusk Rehabilitation as part of the NYU Langone Health system in New York, NY where he led strategic initiatives to improve operational performance, quality, research & education and growth of the rehabilitation service.  Earlier in his career, Geoffrey was at CHRISTUS Spohn serving as Executive Director of the Behavioral Health service line.

Geoffrey holds a Masters in Social Work from the East Carolina University, a Masters in Business Administration from the Walden University and a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Auburn University.

Dr. Riggs was appointed Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for the Cedars-Sinai Health System in October of 2019. Dr. Riggs has served as Chair of the Department of PM&R at Cedars-Sinai since 1997 and is a Clinical Professor at Cedars-Sinai and a Health Sciences Clinical Professor at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. He previously was appointed Vice President and Chief Medical Information Officer for Cedars-Sinai in 2015. Additionally, he facilitated the launch of the California Rehabilitation Institute in 2016 as Chief Medical Strategy Officer and Chief of Staff. Dr. Riggs was instrumental in the establishment of the Division of Informatics in the Department of Biomedical Sciences in 2017 as well as in the development of an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) approved Clinical Informatics Fellowship at Cedars-Sinai.

Dr. Riggs served as a physician member of the Cedars Sinai Board of Directors from 2014 -2020. Board committee service included membership on the Continuous Quality Improvement Committee, Executive Committee and Finance Committee. He continues to serve on the Cedars Sinai Board as an ex officio member in his role as the Chief Medical Officer.

Dr. Riggs was Vice President of the Gay and Lesbian Medical Association Board of Directors from October 1999 – October 2002 and sat on the Board of Directors from July 1999 – 2004.

Dr. Riggs has published and lectured nationally and internationally on clinical, operational, and leadership topics in physical medicine and rehabilitation, health services research, and clinical informatics.

Dr. Riggs completed his medical education at the Medical College of Georgia and trained in Philadelphia in conjunction with the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Riggs is Board Certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Clinical Informatics.

Santiago Muñoz serves as the Chief Strategy Officer of UCLA Health with responsibility for industry partnerships, business transactions, clinical business development, government payment programs, and strategic initiatives to improve market position.

Mr. Muñoz has led transactions that have meaningfully increased the size, scale, and breadth of UCLA Health.  Most recently, he led the acquisition of community hospital campus in the Mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles, which will be converted to a state-of the-art academic health center providing increased access, research and education activities for Los Angeles.  His portfolio of work includes a diverse group of joint ventures, an organic strategic community growth plan, and a series of strategic partnerships that help support and advance the growing UCLA Health network.

Prior to joining UCLA Health, Mr. Muñoz held a similar position at the UC Health in the UC Office of the President.  In that capacity, he led the development of UC Health systemwide business transactions, partnerships, and systemwide agreements with all major commercial payers in California, including conceptualizing and implementing UC Health’s role in a new HMO product (“Blue and Gold” plan) designed as a low-cost healthcare alternative for employees.

Mr. Muñoz has conceptualized partnerships, payment provisions, and strategies that resulted in significant protections and additional payments to academic medical centers. Recent activities include playing a lead role in the development of the UC Center for Health Quality and Innovation and implementing the Medicaid Delivery System Reform Incentive Pool (DSRIP) as a “bridge to reform” to provide federal funding for quality improvement efforts consistent with the Affordable Care Act.

Mr. Muñoz has extensive experience in healthcare financing, health policy development, and strategic positioning.  He is a former board member of the University of Arizona Health Network, Rady Children’s Hospital of San Diego, and America’s Essential Hospitals.  He is the past chairman of the California Association of Public Hospitals and Health Systems, a board member of Fiat Lux, the insurance captive of the University of California, and a board member of the Public Health Institute based in Oakland, California.

Joan August has been with Cedars-Sinai for 24 years and currently serves in the inaugural role as the Vice President of Cancer for the Cedars-Sinai Health System in Southern California.  She is an accomplished leader with over 30 years of healthcare experience and is recognized for her leadership and business acumen for developing and executing lines across an enterprise, including but not limited to the development of the care continuum, patient access, network affiliations and regional strategies, assessing complex business problems including financial analyses and developing innovative solutions with diverse constituencies to achieve sustainable outcomes.

In her current role as the Vice President of Cancer for the Cedars-Sinai Health System, Joan is responsible for defining the clinical and academic strategic initiatives, allocating resources, and implementing the critical initiatives to create an enterprise-wide cancer service line. This includes the provision of cancer services at the main tertiary/quaternary medical center; four community hospitals; eight cancer centers; three radiation oncology centers as well as overseeing residency and fellowship programs, basic science, translational and clinical research for all Cedars-Sinai Cancer. Ms. August is also responsible for the continued expansion of Cedars-Sinai Cancer’s geographical footprint in Southern California. Portfolio has included 3,500 employees and over $400 million in revenue.

Prior to this position, Joan held the position as the Vice President of Operations for the academic Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and had many opportunities for providing guidance in achieving the mission, vision, values, and long-term goals approved by the Board of Directors.

Joan currently serves on a number of Boards:  Chair of the American Cancer Society for Los Angeles, Financial and Investment Chair for the Women’s Leadership Network of JVS Southern California, and board member of Integrative Touch, an international non-profit organization based in Arizona.

Joan obtained her Master of Science, summa cum laude and Presidential Scholar from Eastern Illinois University, in Speech/Language Pathology and Audiology.  Her Bachelor of Science degree, magna cum laude in Speech and Hearing Science is from the State University of New York.

Mr. McCrimlisk (“GHMC”) was a Partner in KPMG LLP’s Los Angeles office and was with the Firm for 28 years before he retired on September 30, 2004. Mr. McCrimlisk headed the personal financial planning practice in the Western United States before he started his own certified public accounting firm, George H. McCrimlisk & Company now called McCrimlisk DiTullio & Company. Since inception, the firm has specialized in tax, estate; and investment planning for ultra-high net worth entrepreneurs.

GHMC is the Chairman of The Green Foundation (“TGF”), a non-operating foundation that was formed by Leonard I. Green. TGF has assets in excess of $180 million and supports a variety of charities primarily in Southern California.

Mr. McCrimlisk is a Board Member and Treasurer of Hands Together (Mission Haiti). GHMC advises and supports the organization managing schools and educational programs in Cite de Soleil, Haiti.

Mr. McCrimlisk holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Rutger’s College and a Master’s Degree in Accounting from Rutger’s Graduate School of Accounting.

Dedicating her career to serving the unique needs of those requiring rehabilitation, Maneshka Cohen, MS, OTR/L, was appointed Executive Director of Cal Rehab Foundation in 2021. In this position, she provides leadership in the areas of development and operations for the Foundation. This includes supporting and cultivating the foundation’s philanthropic efforts and building community relationships.

Previously, Maneshka served as regional director of education for Select Medical’s western region and held various roles at California Rehabilitation Institute (Cal Rehab), where she assisted with hospital startup, served as an occupational therapist and education coordinator. Through her tenure with both Select Medical and Cal Rehab, Maneshka has enjoyed working in partnership with local community organizations and executing successful fundraising initiatives.

Maneshka earned a bachelor’s degree in child and adolescent development with a minor in gerontology from California State University, Northridge and a master’s degree in occupational therapy from Columbia University, Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York.

While in New York City, Maneshka developed specific training, expertise and passion for the field of spinal cord injury rehabilitation at Mt. Sinai Medical Center and NYU Langone Health. She also served on the board of directors of the New York City Chapter of United Spinal Association, a non-profit organization providing advocacy, financial assistance and emotional support to survivors of spinal cord injury and their families.
