Volunteers

We recognize the amazing work of our volunteers and the healing journey of those that the foundation supports. Here are some thoughts from UCLA students Jess Liu, Victoria Gong, & Yixin Wu:

What drives you to volunteer with the Cal Rehab Foundation?
As members of the Medical Association for Rehabilitation Care (MARC), a student organization at UCLA dedicated to exploring the role of rehabilitation in medicine, we are united by a shared passion for helping individuals regain independence, function, and dignity after life-changing injuries or conditions. Volunteering with the Cal Rehab Foundation gives us the opportunity to support patients not only physically, but also emotionally and socially, recognizing the whole person in the recovery process.

Is there a specific part of it that is meaningful to you?
What’s most meaningful to us is the Foundation’s commitment to restoring quality of life. Rehabilitation is often viewed as the final step in treatment, but we believe it’s an essential part of the healing journey, just as important, if not more so, than the initial care. Witnessing and supporting the long-term process of recovery, resilience, and adaptation is extremely inspiring.

What resonates the most for you about the work of the Cal Rehab Foundation?
What resonates most is the Foundation’s multifaceted approach to the care of the rehabilitation community care. We’re honored to be part of a community that leads with empathy and takes meaningful, patient-centered action. The interdisciplinary and community-driven nature of the work reflects the exact values we hope to carry forward in our future healthcare careers.

Any other thoughts you’d like to share with the community about our Foundation?
The Cal Rehab Foundation builds a culture of hope and empowerment. As students, we feel incredibly fortunate to contribute to and learn from this mission. It reminds us that true care requires compassion, patience, and perseverance. We are excited to continue growing with this great community.

Partner with Us

During the process of recovery, one of the most important things we can do is show others they are not alone. Each day, we are inspired by the stories of individuals who demonstrate strength and resilience during life’s most difficult challenges. By partnering with the Cal Rehab Foundation, you can bring the gifts of hope, healing and independence to people with physical disabilities.
